Frequently Asked Questions
What to Expect
What happens during a Jurassic Petting Zoo experience?
Every event has two zones. In Zone 1, kids rotate through five hands-on activity stations: the Master Fossil Exhibition, AI Photo Station, Fossil Dig Station, Dino-Inflatable Target Game, and Discovery Play Mat. In Zone 2 — the show — they meet the baby dinosaur puppets they can pet, hug, and 'feed.' Basic includes all five puppets: Raptor, Pterodactyl, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, and Brachiosaurus. Premium includes two puppets in the petting zoo, with the rest of Zone 2 given to a volcano-eruption opening, an AI-powered robot Triceratops trick show, and an 8-foot T-Rex comedy finale. The show closes with the Jr. Ranger ceremony where every kid earns a Jr. Ranger Badge sticker.
How long does the experience last?
Basic includes about 60 minutes of programmed experience; Premium runs about 90 minutes (the 60-minute Basic experience plus the ~30-minute theatrical layer with the volcano-eruption opening, robot Triceratops trick show, and T-Rex comedy finale). The experience runs inside a booked slot — morning (8 AM – 1 PM), afternoon (1 PM – 6 PM), or full-day (8 AM – 6 PM) — with Rangers handling 1 to 1.5 hours of setup and roughly an hour of cleanup inside the slot.
What dinosaurs will I see?
Basic events feature all five lifelike baby dinosaurs in the Zone 2 petting zoo: Raptor, Pterodactyl, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, and Brachiosaurus — each with its own custom song and props. They're Broadway-level puppets, not animatronics or someone walking around in a costume. Premium events feature two baby dinosaur puppets in the petting zoo plus three Premium-only theatrical elements: a cinematic volcano-eruption opening, an AI-powered robot Triceratops that performs tricks on command, and an 8-foot T-Rex comedy finale (a costume worn for a comedy bit, not an animatronic). At Zone 1's Master Fossil Exhibition, kids handle 30+ touchable fossil replicas — bones, fangs, claws, eggs, and skulls.
Dinosaur Interaction
Can I actually pet the dinosaurs?
Yes! This is what makes us different from shows or museums. Our baby dinosaur puppets are specifically designed for gentle touching. Kids pet them, stroke their skin, and feel the textured scales—under Ranger supervision with clear safety guidelines.
Are the dinosaurs scary for young children?
Our Rangers give age-appropriate introductions and watch each child's comfort level. Most 2-6 year olds are more fascinated than scared. We use the Jr. Ranger Program to build confidence before meeting the big dinosaurs, and every child can go at their own pace.
How realistic are the dinosaurs?
The baby dinosaurs are Broadway-level puppets — theatrical-quality stage puppetry designed for safe hands-on petting and interaction. The puppetry is engineered so the dinosaurs feel alive enough that even a hesitant kid ends up reaching out. Basic includes five baby dinosaur puppets in the Zone 2 petting zoo; Premium has two. The AI-powered robot Triceratops (Premium only) is the only true robot in the lineup — it performs tricks on command. The 8-foot T-Rex (Premium only) is a costume worn for a comedy bit, not an animatronic.
Do you bring all the dinosaurs to every event?
What you get depends on the package. Basic events feature the full five-puppet petting zoo — Raptor, Pterodactyl, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, and Brachiosaurus — in Zone 2. Premium events have a smaller petting zoo (two baby dinosaur puppets) because the show layer takes over: volcano opening, AI-powered robot Triceratops trick show, petting zoo, 8-foot T-Rex comedy finale, then the Jr. Ranger ceremony.
Are the sounds loud or scary?
Kid-friendly volume! Our sound effects are designed to be impressive without being startling. Rangers control audio levels and can adjust for sensitive kids. The experience is exciting, not overwhelming.
Activities & Stations
What is the fossil dig station?
Kids use real brushes and tools to dig through sand and uncover hidden fossil replicas, just like a paleontologist. They match what they find against identification cards. Every kid takes home a free AI-generated prehistoric-scene photo from the AI Photo Station and their Jr. Ranger Badge sticker.
What is the Jr. Ranger Program?
Every child becomes a Guardian of the Dinosaurs during the event. At the end of the show, kids take the Ranger oath and each one earns the Jr. Ranger Badge — a sticker every kid receives by completing the program.
What other activities are included?
Every package includes all five Zone 1 activity stations: the Master Fossil Exhibition (30+ touchable fossil replicas), the AI Photo Station (each kid's photo gets transformed into a prehistoric scene, with downloadable copies for parents after the event), the Fossil Dig Station, the Dino-Inflatable Target Game (sandbag toss at target zones), and the Discovery Play Mat. Premium adds three Premium-only show elements: the volcano-eruption opening, the AI-powered robot Triceratops trick show, and the 8-foot T-Rex comedy finale.
Do kids get to keep anything?
Two take-home items: every kid earns the Jr. Ranger Badge sticker at the end of the show, and every kid's AI Photo Station photo is processed and available as a free digital download the day after the event through a private QR-code gallery (live for 60 days).
Are the fossils real or replicas?
All fossils at the experience are high-quality replicas — both the Master Fossil Exhibition (30+ touchable fossil replicas including bones, fangs, claws, eggs, and skulls) and the Fossil Dig Station where kids uncover hidden replicas in the sand. They're accurate reproductions designed for hands-on exploration.
Comparisons
How does this compare to Jurassic Quest?
Jurassic Quest is a ticketed expo you drive to. We come to you—your backyard, school, or venue—with a private, intimate experience. No crowds, no waiting in lines. Every child gets direct interaction with our Rangers and dinosaurs, not just a walk-through exhibit.
Is this better than going to a dinosaur museum?
Museums have fossils behind glass you can't touch. We bring dinosaurs you can pet, interact with, and take photos alongside. Both have value—museums for artifacts and history, JPZ for hands-on, immersive experiences that make dinosaurs feel real.
What makes this different from a costume character?
Generic dinosaur-costume entertainment is one performer walking around in a suit for twenty minutes while kids look at them. JPZ is a different category: the baby dinosaurs are Broadway-level stage puppets that kids actually touch, hug, and 'feed' (five puppets on Basic, two on Premium). The Premium AI-powered robot Triceratops is a true robot performing real tricks on command. The Premium 8-foot T-Rex is a costume — but it's a full theatrical comedy bit with oversized props, character, and pacing, not just someone walking around.
Value & Logistics
Is the dinosaur experience worth the investment?
Every package is all-in: dinosaurs, all five activity stations, the AI Photo Station with free downloads, the Jr. Ranger ceremony, and trained Rangers who run setup through cleanup. No travel fees inside the service area, no Florida sales tax, no setup or cleanup surcharges. For schools, it's a guided, NGSS-aligned STEM experience every student participates in hands-on rather than watches. For birthdays, the price is the same whether you have 10 kids or 60.
Where can you host the experience?
Anywhere with a 30×30 foot flat clear space, a standard 110V outlet within reasonable cord distance, and ceiling height of at least 8–9 ft for Basic or 10+ ft for Premium. Indoor venues that work: garages, living rooms, community centers, gyms, cafeterias, multipurpose rooms, media centers, hotel ballrooms, and banquet halls. Outdoor venues that work: playgrounds, fields, courtyards, backyards, and parks (with permits where required — those are the host's responsibility). We serve Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties only — no service outside these three counties.
What do I need to provide vs what you bring?
You provide: the space, access to standard electrical outlets, and the excited kids. We bring: all dinosaurs, activity stations, props, Rangers, setup, and breakdown. It's completely turnkey—we arrive, transform your space, run the experience, and leave it clean.
