Frequently Asked Questions
Party Planning Basics
What age is best for a dinosaur birthday party?
Birthday parties work for ages 2–12, with the sweet spot at 2–5 — peak dinosaur fascination age. Older kids who are still into dinosaurs are welcome through age 12, and mixed-age groups (3-year-olds and 7-year-olds together) handle fine since every kid does every station and meets every dinosaur regardless of age.
How do I plan a dinosaur birthday party?
It's easy! Choose a date, pick Basic or Premium package, secure your spot with a deposit, and we handle the rest. We bring the dinosaurs, activities, and trained Rangers. You just provide the space, cake, and excited guests!
What's included in a dinosaur birthday party package?
Basic includes all five Zone 1 activity stations (Master Fossil Exhibition, AI Photo Station, Fossil Dig, Dino-Inflatable Target Game, Discovery Play Mat), the Zone 2 petting zoo with all five lifelike baby dinosaur puppets, the Jr. Ranger ceremony where every kid earns a Jr. Ranger Badge sticker, and 2 Rangers running the whole event — about 60 minutes of programmed experience. Premium includes everything in Basic, except the petting zoo is two baby dinosaur puppets instead of five — replaced by a cinematic volcano-eruption opening, an AI-powered robot Triceratops trick show, and an 8-foot T-Rex comedy finale, with 3 Rangers and about 90 minutes of programmed experience.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking birthday parties 2 to 4 weeks ahead — weekend dates fill up fast. The minimum booking lead time is 7 days; the system blocks anything closer.
How many kids can attend?
Birthday parties are flat-rate up to 60 kids — the price is the same whether you have 10 kids or 60. Every guest rotates through all five Zone 1 activity stations and meets every dinosaur puppet in the Zone 2 petting zoo (five puppets in Basic, two in Premium), regardless of group size.
Can you do indoor birthday parties?
Yes — garages, living rooms, community centers, gyms, banquet halls, and hotel ballrooms all work. We need a 30×30 foot flat clear surface, a standard 110V outlet within reasonable cord distance, and ceiling height of at least 8–9 ft for Basic or 10+ ft for Premium (the 8-foot T-Rex needs the headroom).
Activities & Entertainment
What dinosaur party games do you include?
Zone 1 has five hands-on activity stations every kid rotates through: the Master Fossil Exhibition (touchable fossil replicas — bones, fangs, claws, eggs, skulls), the AI Photo Station, the Fossil Dig Station (real brushes and tools, kids uncover hidden fossil replicas and match them against identification cards), the Dino-Inflatable Target Game (sandbag toss at target zones on an inflatable), and the Discovery Play Mat (large prehistoric landscape with dinosaur figurines).
Do kids get to touch and pet the dinosaurs?
Absolutely! That's what makes us a "petting zoo." Kids can touch our baby dinosaur puppets, and our Rangers guide safe, supervised interactions. It's the hands-on experience that creates unforgettable memories.
Can the birthday child have a special role?
Yes. Toward the end of the show, Rangers turn the spotlight on the birthday child for a special moment with the dinosaurs. Everyone's watching, the baby dinosaurs are right there with the birthday kid, and the moment is intentionally placed at the end of the show so the energy peaks there. It's part of how every JPZ birthday show closes — no extra cost or opt-in needed. Joint birthdays (twins or two kids sharing a party) get the special moment together at no additional charge.
What happens during the Premium volcano and T-Rex show?
The cinematic volcano eruption opens the Premium show — fog cannons, rumbling sounds, and lights produce a dramatic eruption effect that gets the audible gasp from the kids. Next, an AI-powered robot Triceratops performs tricks on command — kids call out commands themselves like 'sit,' 'speak,' 'dance,' 'wave,' 'jump,' 'pose,' and the dinosaur responds. The show then moves into the petting zoo (two baby dinosaur puppets on Premium), and closes with the 'Train Our T-Rex' comedy finale where an 8-foot T-Rex comes out and the kids help the Rangers 'train' it using oversized props.
Are the dinosaurs scary for little kids?
We keep it fun and comical, never scary! Our Rangers go at each child's pace and never force interactions. Most initial nervousness fades quickly once kids see how playful and friendly our dinosaurs are.
Budget & Pricing
How much does a dinosaur birthday party cost?
Birthday parties are flat-rate: $750 for Basic, $1,000 for Premium. The price is the same whether you have 10 kids or 60. Premium adds a cinematic volcano-eruption opening, an AI-powered robot Triceratops trick show, and an 8-foot T-Rex comedy finale on top of everything in Basic. Pricing is all-in — no travel fees within our three-county service area, no Florida sales tax, no setup or cleanup surcharges.
How do I throw a budget-friendly dinosaur party?
Our Basic package delivers the full petting zoo experience at an accessible price. You can save by hosting at home (no venue rental), inviting fewer guests, and handling your own cake and decorations. We provide the entertainment!
What do I provide vs what you provide?
We provide: all dinosaurs, games, activities, props, fossil dig, AI Photo Station, and trained Rangers — Rangers run setup, the entire experience, and cleanup. You provide: the space, food, cake, drinks, decorations, balloons, and the guest list. The host doesn't move equipment, supervise activities, or run anything — your job is to enjoy the event.
Is there a travel fee?
No travel fee within our service area (Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach counties). The price you see is the price you pay—no hidden fees or surprise charges.
Do you provide party favors or goodie bags?
Party favors beyond the Jr. Ranger Badge are not included — parents handle those. Every kid earns a Jr. Ranger Badge sticker at the end of the show and gets a free AI-generated prehistoric-scene photo from the AI Photo Station, available for digital download through a private gallery (live for 60 days) the day after the event.
Party Duration & Schedule
How long does the dinosaur party last?
Basic includes about 60 minutes of programmed experience; Premium runs about 90 minutes (the 60-minute Basic experience plus the ~30-minute theatrical layer with the volcano opening, robot Triceratops trick show, and T-Rex comedy finale). The party runs inside a booked slot — morning (8 AM – 1 PM), afternoon (1 PM – 6 PM), or full-day (8 AM – 6 PM) — with Rangers handling 1 to 1.5 hours of setup and roughly an hour of pack-up inside the slot.
How early do you arrive for setup?
Rangers arrive at the start of your booked slot — morning (8 AM – 1 PM), afternoon (1 PM – 6 PM), or full-day (8 AM – 6 PM) — and spend 1 to 1.5 hours setting up the petting zoo, the activity stations, and (for Premium) the show equipment inside that slot. Keep the setup window guest-free — kids arriving while Rangers are still setting up loses the reveal moment when the dinosaurs come out.
What should I prepare before you arrive?
Clear a 30×30 foot flat space and make sure we have access to a standard 110V outlet within reasonable cord distance. Ceiling height needs to be at least 8–9 ft for Basic or 10+ ft for Premium (the 8-foot T-Rex needs the headroom). Rangers handle all setup and cleanup — you handle food, cake, drinks, decorations, and the guest list.
Guest Logistics
How many kids can attend a dinosaur party?
Birthday parties are flat-rate up to 60 kids — the price is the same whether you have 10 kids or 60. Siblings of invited guests just observing don't count against the cap; siblings actively participating do. Every kid rotates through all five Zone 1 activity stations and meets every dinosaur puppet in Zone 2 (five puppets in Basic, two in Premium).
Do parents need to stay at the party?
For kids under 5, we recommend parents stay nearby. For older children, it's your preference! Parents often enjoy watching and taking photos. Our Rangers manage the experience, but you know your guests best.
Do adults enjoy the experience too?
The experience is kid-focused, but adults are encouraged to stay and watch — many parents enjoy it as much as the kids do, and end up taking photos throughout. There's no separate adult headcount or charge.
What about siblings of different ages?
All siblings are welcome. The experience works for ages 2–12, with the sweet spot at 2–5. Mixed-age groups (3-year-olds and 7-year-olds in the same party) handle fine — every kid does every station and meets every dinosaur regardless of age. Rangers manage rotations so every guest gets the full experience.
Party Favors & Keepsakes
Do kids get to keep anything from the party?
Two take-home items: every kid earns the Jr. Ranger Badge sticker at the end of the show, and every kid's AI Photo Station photo is processed and ready for free digital download the day after the event through a private QR-code gallery (live for 60 days).
What is the fossil dig activity?
Kids become paleontologists at the Fossil Dig Station: using real brushes and tools, they dig through sand and uncover hidden fossil replicas, then match what they find against identification cards. It's STEM learning disguised as play.
How do the AI photos work?
Each kid's photo is captured at the AI Photo Station, then AI transforms it and drops them into a prehistoric scene. The day after the event, JPZ sends a QR code linking to a private gallery for your event — share it with families however you like. Photos are free digital downloads, available for 60 days from when the gallery is published.
Venue Options
Can you do the party at my house?
Yes — backyards, front yards, and garages all work. We need a 30×30 foot flat clear space, a standard 110V outlet within reasonable cord distance, and ceiling height of at least 8–9 ft for Basic or 10+ ft for Premium. Indoor spaces like living rooms work too as long as they meet those requirements.
What if I want the party at a park or venue?
Parks, pavilions, community centers, and party venues all work great! Just ensure there's power access for our equipment. Many venues have packages that combine with our experience perfectly.
Do you have liability insurance for venues?
Yes — JPZ carries full liability insurance and provides a Certificate of Insurance (COI) on request. Venues that require JPZ to be named as additional insured can request that at booking. Hotels, resorts, and large commercial venues typically require a COI, which is provided on request.
Weather & Special Needs
What if it rains on party day?
For outdoor events, weather rescheduling is always free and doesn't count against your one free reschedule. JPZ makes the call, typically the morning of the event based on the forecast. Light rain — we wait it out. Heavy rain, active storms, or lightning — reschedule, no penalty. For a Tropical Storm or Hurricane in the forecast, we typically reschedule 48 to 72 hours ahead. Indoor events aren't affected by weather.
Can you accommodate children with special needs?
Yes! Please tell us about any special needs when booking. Our Rangers are trained to adapt interactions—adjusting volume, pace, or approach for sensory sensitivities. Every child deserves to enjoy the dinosaur adventure.
What if I need to reschedule (not weather related)?
Hosts get one free reschedule with at least 14 days notice before the original date — the 50% deposit transfers to the new date with no additional deposit needed. Less than 14 days notice means the deposit is forfeited. The 14-day rule applies regardless of reason. Weather reschedules are a separate path — always free and don't count against the one free reschedule.
